Opened in April 2011, Workshop is always a good bet for brunch. With a winning menu that creates queues out the door, you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere this good in Clerkenwell on a Saturday morning.
Our Instagram feed ‘The Menu’ will testify we are fond of Workshop’s Dexter Burger in the evening paired with a Pale Ale from The Kernel Brewery. For brunch, the Corn Fritters and Halloumi are top choice, topped with a poached egg they are the perfect hangover cure. Sweet toothed diners will be pleased by the Brioche French Toast with blood orange mascarpone and rhubarb. All meals are perfectly finished with a coffee, obviously. Expect to pay £15 to £20 for a meal including a couple of drinks.
Coffee prices are pretty standard but the quality far exceeds anywhere in the local area — or city — and the staff are very knowledgable. Ask them to introduce you to the different varieties of coffee on the day.
Behind the bar resides a heavy lump of engineering that stands as stoutly as an Italian mama. The roaster unfortunately sits dormant for most of the week, but you can usually see it in action on Friday mornings. On-site roasting ensures the finest quality coffee throughout, and you can pick up a bag for home whilst ordering your flat white.
