The Monocle Shop
2A George St., W1U 3QS
On a remarkably quiet corner of Soho, The Society Club certainly doesn’t seem to have the same self conscious approach as others in the area. This quirky gem serves up teas and coffees in the Soho side streets with a minimum of fuss.
A collection of dogs seem to be a semi-permanent feature and change as often as the stock of books along the wall. If you’re looking for somewhere to escape for a few hours then this is it. Pitch up, read a book and enjoy an afternoon.
As champions of the true coffee table greats you can expect to find a good spread including custard creams, bourbon biscuits and Tunnocks Teacakes to name a few. If you’re looking for artisanal coffee and ciabatta sandwiches then Fernandez and Wells around the corner is for you. The charmingly disorganised manner in which The Society Club operates day to day attracts a relaxed crowd of writers and other interesting characters. If you like that as much as we do then you’ll fit right in.
